Make a reservation. At minimum, you’ll want to reserve a month in advance and confirm the reservation a week before the event. It is important to remember that wedding season may mean making arrangements a year or more out. After sorting out the details, make sure you receive a written booking confirmation that states the type of party bus you are renting, the agreed-upon rate, locations and times for pick-up and drop-off, deposit amount, and any other relevant details.

Choose your vehicle. Depending on the size of your party, you will want to ensure you have enough room on the party bus for all your guests. Also consider what each bus accommodations are as well. Maybe you need to make sure A/C is available or there is enough cooler space for your beverages.

Plan some details. Sometimes you may want to plan for a certain party theme or special time of the year. Use the ride as a 80’s inspired theme night or a jungle theme party. A bus full of people wearing bright neon or leopard print skirts and zebra striped pants is a truly fantastic sight, and they make great pictures.

Also think about if you would like to bring decorations, music, food, and especially where your final destination is. Whatever your plans, have a good idea of how many people are riding, the number of hours you expect to need service and the distance you expect to ride. Pad a little extra, in terms of number of people or time it will take, for each of these categories.

Plan for refreshments. Part of the fun of renting a party bus is starting the party before you arrive at your special event. Check with the company about its policies and offerings for food and beverages.

Consider your music. Most party bus companies will offer ipod ready stereo and sound systems for any music you may prefer to bring. You’ll want to discuss this preference in advance. Make a play list on your ipod or burn a cd. Put some fun songs on there that people can dance to. There is nothing worse than a quiet party. The goal is to get everyone at your party to start dancing because if they are having a good time, you will be having a good time.

Plan your routes. Are you going straight from Point A to Point B, or are you planning to meander, making stops at places along the way? Maybe you just want to party on the bus. Maybe this is a go between different stops. You’ll want to inform the party bus company and driver of your expected itinerary.

Check out the amenities. Party buses are sophisticated vehicles with numerous amenities such as sound systems, LED lighting, coolers for storage of beverages, A/C, etc.  Take full advantage of all the party bus amenities offered and plan details and themes around that.

Use your driver’s knowledge. Most party bus drivers have a good knowledge of the city they are driving in and also where the best places to party are at. Your driver will act as a liaison to the city getting you to the attractions you want for your particular type of party. Remember to tip your driver 20% or more, especially if he or she is professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. After all, he/she is making sure you and your guests have a good time without worrying about drinking and driving.

Check ’em out. Most people overlook this aspect of renting a party bus.  Party buses require inspections and Class B drivers who keep daily logs.  Make sure you ask and check these items along with insurance and license number.  This number should be located on the front and back bumper of the bus. To get the best experience for the money, be sure to check reviews and referrals from several service providers.

If you follow these top tips, you shouldn’t have a problem renting a party bus and having an amazing time with your friends.
